Whenever my sister asks me to babysit her daughter overnight, we plan it for at least a week to make sure we have all the details in line. She packs their bags, moves the car seats to my car, gives me a list of meals I can make for them, and ensures I know their exact bedtime and schedule for the next day.

It's a whole process, as it should be.

If she were to simply come over, hang out for a bit, and then tell me, "Okay, I'm leaving. Can I leave the kids here for the night?" The answer would be absolutely not. That is not how this works. I'm not her free babysitter, and I can't just drop everything to watch her kids without notice or preparation.

When the same thing happened to the sister in the story below, she refused as well. Even though she works from home, she can't just take care of two children for days out of the blue. The kids' mom, however, was not happy with this reasonable response…

    Goddessviking86 She's definitely someone who I feel didn't think things through for herself because in all her planning she felt she could just drop an unexpected surprise on you but what she failed to acknowledge is your own schedule during weekdays, if she had reached out and talked to you that would've been ideal instead she decided to use the unfair warfare of emotional warfare to try to use emotions to try to guilt you into watching them but you saw through the ruse.

    ThiccGoblinEmpress Showing up unannounced and expecting free childcare just because you work from home is incredibly entitled. Working remotely doesn't mean you're sitting around doing nothing. She should've called ahead or arranged proper childcare like any responsible parent. It's one thing to ask for help, but showing up expecting it is something else entirely.
